Despite the rain the installation still looked great! Let's hope for a sunny international peace day next year :)
Welcome to the Art Studio at Coonley Elementary School in Chicago. This is a virtual space to share students' processes and accomplishments, and to highlight what mischief we are up to in the art room on a weekly basis.

Pinwheels for Peace
This past Friday, September 21st the students of Coonley honored International Peace Day by "planting" their pinwheels in the rock garden. Their pinwheels housed messages of peace and personal goals about being peaceful students this school year.

Coonley Cranes
Hello! I am honored to begin the Coonley Art Studio blog for the 2012-2013 school year. My name is Mrs. Glover, and I am excited to get this school year started.
To kick off the school year, all of the art classes have spent their period going over introductions and expectations in the art studio. Each student was presented with the Coonley Artist Pledge, which spelled out these expectations. The students signed this pledge and then folded the pledge into an origami crane. The origami cranes will be hung around the art studio, as well as the school to symbolize all of the Coonley artists. During the open house, or during your next trip into Coonley, keep your eyes open for the 600+ origami cranes!
I am thrilled to be the new Coonley art teacher, and am looking forward to meeting everyone in the Coonley community.
See you soon!
Mrs. Glover
